Destiny Leveling System

Following the recent gameplay reveals, more deets continue to surface regarding Bungie’s upcoming FPS: Destiny. The developer’s gone on to share some info on the progression system. PlayStation Access spent some time with the game studio and mentioned how Bungie was “keen to stress that they don’t want leveling to be too challenging and they don’t estimate it will take some people very long to reach the level cap.”

In fact, the company wants gamers to focus more on “loot,” stating it’s going to be the real “x-factor” that will add to replay value. Sounds like the game’s economy will be vital to progression. Should be an interesting approach, especially since there will be no P2P trading supported at launch. Though keep in mind you’ll be able to trade items amongst your own characters.

Community Manager David “Deej” Daue scribed a small blurb on Reddit for any worried fans, proclaiming that reaching a max rank will “take more than a few hours,” as the current system is “in no way final.”

“Hmmmm, what to say about this?
The progression system that has been shared to date is in no way final.
I can assure you that your evolution in Destiny will take more than a few hours.
That said, we’re not creating something that should feel like a grind or a chore.
Resume speculation!”

Destiny hits the market on September 9, 2014, for the PS4, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
