When Samuel L. Jackson signed his ridiculous contract to appear in nine Marvel films, most of us figured it would take a decade before he’d fulfill the contractual obligation. But the way Marvel’s been pumping out projects over the past few years, the actor’s time as Nick Fury might be coming to a close sooner than later, with only three movies left to film. Jackson spoke with Fandango about continuing his portrayal as the one-eyed leader of the S.H.I.E.L.D. and whether he’d be open to extending his contract.

“I just know that the Marvel Universe is there, that there are things going on, and that I have three pictures left on my nine-picture deal. That’s all I know. I’ve done six [Marvel movies], and I’m about to do [number] seven, so I’m running out of Marvel pictures — unless they extend my contract.”

When asked if he’d be open to reprise his role as Fury for future films, Jackson responded: “Why wouldn’t I?”. As Marvel preps Phase 3, which includes new franchises like Guardians of the Galaxy, plus threequels for the Captain America and Thor franchises, the studio might want to seriously consider extending that man’s contract. Just a thought.
