According to Evolve executive producer Denby Grace, one of the more prominent areas where developer Turtle Rock is looking to improve its upcoming FPS is character development. Granted the upcoming first-person shooter shares many design elements from the Left 4 Dead series, the last-gen horror title featured avatars that were only developed through voiceovers, which Grace explains will be enhanced in its new IP. Here is what the 2K boss told Edge Online.

“The hunters in Evolve are specifically characterized, in their looks and their VO, but now they each have unique items and weaponry. When you’re selecting a character, you’re selecting that character based not just on who they are but also their abilities and what they can do, and we hope that people find that sort of match.”

It’s already known that Evolve will stray away from the more traditional shooter approach and focus more on tactical, strategic-based combat. We’ll see if it pays off come this fall when the game hits PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Feel free to revisit the first official gameplay trailer below.
