Samsung Galaxy Alpha

According to the latest rumors and leaked photos, Korean tech giant Samsung is doing what it should have done a few years ago: it’s releasing a Galaxy-branded smartphone made entirely of metal, instead of that cheap-feeling plastic. Unfortunately, the Galaxy Alpha will not actually be a premium device, despite the premium device feel that metal bodies come with. Instead, the mobile giant will make it a middle-of-the-road endeavor, chocking the phone full with a combo of mid-range and higher-end parts.

They’ll be launching the Galaxy Alpha on August 4, early in the month, specifically because they want the hype for it to have died down by the time they release the Galaxy Note 4 in early September. And of the two, Samsung would rather you’d spend your money on the Note. The medal-clad Galaxy Alpha is rumored to have a 4.8-inch 720p display, 32GB non-removable internal storage and a fingerprint scanner. It won’t be a bad phone…but why can’t they just make a flagship phone in metal? Maybe if the Alpha does well enough, they might?
