According to an anonymous source over at Digital Foundry, PS4 developers will be able to use less than 70 percent of console’s RAM for games: with 3.5GB of space reserved for the OS and the other 4.5GB available for games. On top of that, the same source indicates at least 1GB of reserved RAM will be saved as “flexible memory” and “maybe be reclaimed from the OS reservation, based on availability.” In other words, 5.5GB could potentially be accessible. Most of the allocated RAM for the OS will be utilized for the PS4’s system features such as pause and resuming games and app switching. The PS4 lands in stores this holiday season.
