Interactive Environments
Adding to the layers of combat, background settings can be used as weapons. Yep. Each character can use an object found in each stage to inflict damage onto the opposition depending on their strength. Example: Batman won’t have the same strength as someone like Solomon Grundy. So where as the dark knight will be able to smash your face into a car, Grundy can actually pick it up and launch it across the screen. Wonder Woman can actually take things a step further by flinging opponents into a helicopter.
Pulling off a powerful attack towards the edge of stage will expand it and send an opponent onto another area. The combination of flying objects, heavy attacks, and stage movement showed us how impressive the game’s mechanics work. No lag and incredible frame rates present here. It’s a huge step up from the mechanics system featured in Mortal Kombat 9.
Choose Your Class
Players have the option of picking between two different classes: Gadget and Power. A character like Batman falls under the former for the simple reason he relies most on mechanical weaponry such as batarangs and other weapons from his bat belt. Superman fits into the latter because of his ability to pick up heavy objects like a car and use it as a secondary weapon. Even though each character fits under a different class, you still have their basic and power moves to work with. The Wager system is one of the hottest features of the game, as it allows players to activate a combo-inspired special by pressing forward and X (PS3) or A (Xbox 360). After both players place a secret bet using a portion from their super meters, the highest bidder wins a clash and is either rewarded health or the ability to finish off a devastating combo. Overall, the character moves are pretty elaborate and entertaining to watch.
