These Resident Evil 6 reports are insane right now. Just a few hours after reporting Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy would be returning to the franchise as playable characters, IGN unveils what looks to be a promotional ad for Resident Evil 6, unveiling the game’s new logo and presumed release date of Nov. 20, 2012. Hey, the image speaks for itself. Black Friday would make the perfect release date when you put things into perspective, but it’s cool. We’ll take a new Resident Evil sooner than later. RE6 is scheduled to be announced in a few minutes at 5:00 pm eastern time via viral site NoHopeLeft.com. We’re keeping tabs for you.

Here’s a quick recap of our RE6 playable characters recap:

GamesBeat reports that a “reliable source within Capcom” has unveiled the two main characters for the pre-developed Resident Evil 6: Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy. The site also mentions how we could see the return of Ada Wong, but no specifics were mentioned about her role. VentureBeat’s sources claim Resident Evil 6 is being developed by the same Japanese studio that’s worked on previous RE titles. Word is Capcom will tweak the gameplay mechanics of RE6, combining elements from both Resident Evil 4 and 5.

Capcom’s already made a huge push for its action/horror franchise the past two weeks, unveiling numerous trailers for its third-person console title Operation Raccoon City and promoting a downloadable demo for the 3DS-bound Revelations yesterday. Still, could this be the major announcement teased in those “No Hope Left” viral ads sweeping the Net? Until Capcom unveils the premise behind those ads at 5:00 pm today, we’re filing this one under rumor.
