In the perfect Marvel Universe, we would all see Spider-Man joining forces with The Avengers on the big screen. However, due to licensing agreements—The Avengers being a Paramount property and Spider-Man under the Sony umbrella—chances are we’ll probably never see it. The Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield and director Marc Webb have their opinions on the matter, both agreeing that they would love to see the high-flying web slinger team with the supergroup.
Yahoo recently spoke with the duo about it. Garfield goes on to state the following, “I would love that. I know that the fans would love that, the fans of the Marvel universe… the more the merrier, the bigger the better.”
Webb added to the conversation saying, “I would love that, as a fan, I think that would be great. I don’t know how that would happen, but I certainly would be supportive of it.”
The Amazing Spider-Man helmer also implied that an attempt was previously made to make the crossover happen, though all efforts were shut down:”There’s efforts that were made [to make a crossover cameo happen] but obviously nothing came to fruition.” No surprise there.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into theaters May 2nd, while The Avengers: Age of Ultron is scheduled for a Summer 2015 release.
