Before jumping to conclusions…NO…Marvel is not planning a crossover between the Spider-Man and X-Men universes. Sorry fanboys. Instead Fox and Sony have come to an agreement that involves splicing a teaser from the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past in the post credits of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Wait. What? Believe it.

According to Variety, the reason for the decision comes from a exiting contract director Marc Webb had with Fox Searchlight to helm another film, leading to a back and forth war with Webb caught in the middle. So Fox agreed to let Webb move forward with the Spider-Man sequel in exchange for Sony’s free promotion of Days of Future Past.

The scene, which features Mystique, Toad, and Havoc fighting Stryker and his men, will only be seen in some countries across the globe. Whether we’ll get this copy of the Amazing Spider-Man 2 in the U.S. remains unknown. And in the case we do, hopefully Sony doesn’t cut out its own Spidey post-credits scene.
