The Outsiders vs. Sting,Randy Savage & Lex… by Middl

Bash at the Beach ’96

Year: 1996
Must-watch match: The Outsiders and their mystery partner vs. Lex Luger, Randy Savage, and Sting
The battle between WWE and WCW became really ugly when Scott Hall and Kevin Nash made their unprecedented debuts with the Georgia-based promotion. But when the duo stepped into the ring for a three-on-three challenge against some of WCW’s elite talents, while keeping their mystery partner waiting behind the curtain, the entire wrestling landscaped changed. Hulkamania died and Hollywood Hogan was born. And it’s a moment in wrestling history that never gets old. Not to say Bash at the Beach didn’t have its high points, as Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit, Ric Flair, and Arn Anderson all offered up great performances.

Barely Legal ’97

Year: 1997
Must-watch match: The Great Sasuke, Gran Hamada, and Masato Yakushiji vs bWo Japan (Taka Michinoku, Terry Boy, and Dick Togo) in a Six Man Tag
“Funk Wins!!!! Do yooooou believe in Miracles!!!!” Joey Styles pulled a JR the moment Terry Funk shocked the world by winning the ECW Championship from Raven after enduring a gruesome three-way battle with The Sandman and Stevie Richards. To call it a well-deserved win would be an understatement. Still the match serves as a testament to Funk’s legacy. As great as the moment was, it paled in comparison to the fast-paced and wild action showcased during the Lucha/Japanese-inspired Six Man Tag. Then again, some fans throw the Sabu vs. Taz and Dudleys vs. Eliminators matches in the same conversation. You be the judge.
