The Great American Bash ’89

Year: 1989
Must-watch match: Terry Funk vs. Ric Flair
To see Terry Funk wrestler in his prime is a gift. His fight with Champion Ric Flair at the Great American Bash screams in loud volume. The two Hall of Famers went at it for over 25 minutes with Flair doing his usual bleed-out shtick and wrestling with a damaged neck vertebrae that could’ve put him on the shelf permanently. They don’t groom world champions like they used to. Ricky Steamboat also managed to put over Lex Luger during their awesome US Title match, while Sting and the Great Muta pushed each other to the limit.

Heatwave ’98

Year: 1998
Must-watch match: Rob Van Dam & Sabu vs. Hayabusha & Jinsei Shinzaki
With a card consisting of Justin Credible vs. Jerry Lynn, Chris Candido vs. Lance Storm, and Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Tazz—Heatwave 1998 easily goes down as one of the top 5 technical wrestling PPVs of all time. Though the program had its fair share of hardcore matches, most notably the vicious Street Fight that pit The Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, and Spike Dudley vs. the Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray, D-Von, and Bick Dick). The fact that Bubba Ray nearly instigates a riot before hitting the ring is worth the viewing time. Though Sabu and Van Dam were destined to bring the house down that night.
