8. YouTube Drops $1 Billion on Twitch
Google continued executing their plan for Internet domination by acquiring the hottest live-streaming video gaming platform: Twitch.tv. Relatively unknown two years ago, the service has gone from niche start-up to being valued at $1 billion. The search engine giant looks to milk the gaming craze by funneling more money into its servers and bolstering the service. Google has proven they can take a company and increase its usefulness tenfold, i.e. YouTube.
