Of all the days Sony chose to announce its holiday flagship smartphone, the electronics giant decided on September 4th–the same exact day Samsung unveils the Galaxy Note 3 and new Galaxy Wear smartwatch. Mobile fans should get their first look at the long-awaited Xperia Z1 within the next week, which is rumored to feature several hardware upgrades: including a 21MP camera that shoots 4K, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, 5-inch (1080p) screen, and 2GB+ of RAM. No carriers have been announced or hinted at, though we suspect AT&T or T-Mobile will be the home for Sony’s next-gen waterproof handset. Considering the positive feedback of the Xperia Z, high expectations are in order for the Xperiz Z1.
