Nokia Normandy Android Phone

Remember those rumors of Nokia releasing its own Android-operated smartphone? New reports from The Verge claim such a device does exist and will be launched sometime in 2014 by the Finnish telecommunications company. The codenamed “Normandy” is said to possibly run a forked version of Android, similar to what’s found on the Amazon Kindle line, and will be a mid-range unit manufactured for low income households. Functionality-wise, all that’s known is the “Normandy” supports Skype and other popular apps from the mobile platform.

Keep in the mind that the recent acquisition of Nokia by Microsoft has yet to be finalized, with other reports suggesting Nokia will work hard on releasing the Android phone before the deal is official. One source inside Nokia went on to claim the device was “full steam ahead.”

Truthfully, the only thing that would draw us to the “Normandy” is if it supports the same dynamic camera found on the Lumia 1020, but that’s not going to happen. So much for wishful thinking.
