AutoCar reports Renault will unveil its Alpine Tribute concept car at the 2012 Paris Motor Show in late September. The prototype hits the Paris showroom floor in celebration of the 50th birthday for the Alpine A110 Berlinetta and could possibly be put into production sometime in the near future. Design chief Laurens van den Acker touched on his concept and if auto enthusiasts will see the Alpine tribute in the states.
“These things live by the grace of the day. “In my view, the best thing for a designer is always to have something cooking in the corner. Then when the planets line up, you have something ready. We have to ask: ‘Is there room in today’s car market to build something that could be compared to a Porsche?’ In any case, for an Alpine to make sense financially, it would have to sell in North America and China.”
No word yet on whether Renault will make the vehicle a rear-engined car (like the original) or create a hybrid with all-wheel drive. A hybrid works for us.
