Edgar Wright’s big-screen version of Ant-Man has been development stage for almost an entire year, though the project remains in search of an actor to tackle on the lead role. After Joseph Gordon-Levitt refuted rumors of joining the Marvel blockbuster, new reports from The Wrap and Variety cite Paul Rudd is in early negotiations to play the superhero.
Apparently, Wright is approaching the Henry Pym character as a sardonic, wise cracking scientist. Seems like an obvious choice when you think about it. Word is fellow I Love You, Man alum Rashida Jones is also being courted to play Rudd’s love interest in the film. How funny would that be. Maybe they’ll cast Jason Segel to be the baddie as well.
Ant-Man is scheduled to hit theaters July 31, 2015.
