iPad HD or the iPad 3. Apple is Said to Announce its next-gen tablet March 7th.

Everyone’s aware of Apple’s major iPad announcement at its San Francisco event tomorrow. But there’s been some current rumblings concerning the company’s next-gen tablet: including a different moniker, specs sheet, and product launch. First up, CNET and several other outlets report the new iPad will be tagged the iPad HD, citing a former developer as its reliable source. With this speculation alone, chances are consumers will most likely feast their eyes on the rumored high-res Retina Display (2,048 X 1,536-pixel resolution).

Recent online hearsay also indicates the new iPad will tackle 4G connectivity, with Reuters and iMore backing up these claims. Analysts predict the move will boost the “telecom’s market,” as the demand for 4G on high-end devices continues to grow. USB analyst John Hodulik tells Reuters, “It’s going to dramatically improve video consumption. This is the device people want. They want the fastest speed. They want high resolution.” You don’t say?

Last, but not least, an Apple source informed 9to5Mac today that the “iPad HD” will be released on March 16 (next Friday). While all these reports can be taken with a grain of salt for the next couple of hours, one thing is for sure, we’ll get the full breakdown when Apple makes its official announcement mañana.
