Let’s be honest, texting is the “cool” way to communicate, among Snapchat, Twitter, and all the other social media accounts these days. But what makes chatting via social media and texting is that ability to show emotions through emojis. It was a revelation that personalized and simplified miscommunication for every texter out there. Well, now there’s Imoji—a new app that uses pictures and turns them into textable emoticons. How crazy is that!

Now instead of making the typical/over exaggerated cry Emoji, users can take a more realistic picture of themselves. Gone are the yellow (Wal-Mart looking) faces, and in are YOU faces. All a user needs to do is upload a selfie, or any other picture from the phone library, into the FREE app. Then, the extras in the picture (ie. Background, shoulders) can be erased so that it’s just the portion wanted, and ta-da a new Imoji is born. Now just cause personal family and friends can get this super personal Imoji, doesn’t mean the rest of the world has to see it.

Users can decide whether to set them to public or private. Now if it’s a bad hair day, or you’re in a public place and don’t want to embarrass yourself with making a funny face, the app also provides stickers to choose from. Thousands of celebrity faces that appear in memes are already for use. The app that was launched earlier this week was started by a group of buddies based in San Francisco. Of course new features are soon to follow its grand release like being able to follow favorite sticker makers, just like you. So start putting those selfies to good use, and let you’re friends know if you’re REALLY laughing out loud or not.
