Sony’s next-gen portable has been plagued with development woes since its inception. Aside from confirming the 128kbps 3G speeds and 20MB download limit, Famitsu claims that the PlayStation Vita won’t support Game Archives (downloadable PSone and TurboGrafx-16 games) during its Japan launch later this year. Surprised? C’mon. To Sony’s defense, this is all speculation on behalf of the Japanese magazine, but that doesn’t necessarily mean its untrue. Guess we’ll find out soon, huh?

On the brighter side, the Vita is said to be backwards compatible with PSP titles, but will require gamers to transfer save files from their PS3 or PC. The Japanese gaming magazine also says Sony has plans of releasing a portable charger to provide extra power for the system’s weak battery life. Whether Game Archives will be accessible for the US PS Vita launch is still uncertain.
