Fast-Paced Action
Typically at the start of a game, you wait a few before any action kicks in. Ascension breaks from the norm. A quick cut scene explaining Kratos backstory and after a couple of minutes, it’s time to severe bodies. And just when you think there’s only one enemy left after wiping out an entire swarm, another wave bombards the screen. Oh yea, they’re also not the same set of baddies. Your best bet is to eliminate the most powerful one of the batch first to avoid any major ambushes. Boss battles are just as epic as in the previous titles, playing the dodge and timing game to stay alive a bit longer.
If you think the battles are fast, traveling through the levels is just as speedy. From Kratos sliding down ice walls and weaving by incoming carts, avoiding death-falling cracks by jumping through walls, and effortlessly swinging from one side of the screen to another—the developer’s done an amazing job of incorporating speed and suspense into the title. Many edge-of-your-seat moments to enjoy here.
