While tinkering with a water-based heat pump experiment, USAF Aerospace engineer Lonnie Johnson stumbled upon the device that would change summertime and liquid warfare forever. His invention, the Super Soaker, became one of the best-selling toys in the early ‘90s and could be found in the hands of every adolescent and teen in the neighborhood. And if it wasn’t, chances are they were usually on the receiving end of a soaked blast. They really don’t make’em like they used to.
