2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG images hit the Internet

Weeks ahead of its 2012 New York Auto Show debut, the luxury automaker blesses us with official details and the first images of the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG. Lucky us. Under the hood you’ll find a V12 twin-turbocharged engine that produces 630-hp and a max torque of 737.5-lb-ft. The SL65 comes equipped with the new AMG Speedshift Plus 7G Tronic transmission system.

Speaking of transmissions, four modes will be available: C (Controlled Efficiency), S (Sport), S+ (Sport Plus), and M (Manual). No speed specs were announced, but Mercedes-Benz expects the SL65 to produce “exceptional performance, impressive power delivery and effortlessly superior dynamics. Fuel-economy has also been increased by 17 percent.

The SL65 dons the all-aluminum bodyshell technology of its predecessor (SLS AMG), weighs 373 pounds lighter, and supports AMG Sports Suspension with steering knuckles, along with an aluminum rear suspension frame. Notice the new twin-blade radiator grille, which defines the SL65 as the first model to don the AMG Brand face. Inside, we’re looking at heated/cooled seats with AIRSCARF neck-level heating and some other interior fancies.

Expect the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG to make some serious noise at the NY Auto Show on April 6th. Hopefully we’ll get an official release date and pricing options by then.
