Plans for the upcoming Star Wars VII movie have been underway for the past several months with numerous talks of A-list stars and directors being attached to the project. Disney purposely made the call to keep the sci-fi sequel out of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, saving all major announcements for its upcoming D23 Expo on August 9. Clever move.

The one piece of news Star Wars fans seek most revolves around the film’s casting, and most importantly, who will play Luke Skywalker’s son. According to a source over at Latino Review, Disney has two stars in mind to join the project: Ryan Gosling (The Notebook, Drive) and Zac Efron (High School High).

Word is Gosling tested for junior Skywalker, where as Efron is possibly being considered to play Han Solo’s seed. Wait…shouldn’t it be vice-versa? Oh well. The bigger dilemma on hand seems to be director J.J. Abrams, who looks to be caught in between filming Star Wars VII and working on Star Trek 3. Will he participate in both films? Highly doubtful, especially with the former being set for a 2015 release.

Update: According to the Huffington Post, Gosling’s representatives claim the reports aren’t true. Guess that could be a good or bad thing depending how you view it.
