Kid Icarus Uprising
Price: $40
Brought back to life from the Nintendo vault, the Kid Icarus franchise gets the 3DS treatment and serves as a prime example of what cool features the system can pull off. Top-notch animations easily match the Wii’s capabilities, as sprites and cut scenes shimmer on the 3DS screen. The boss battles are pretty challenging, but winnable, and as you continue advancing throughout the game, you’ll be rewarded with a number of upgrades (bows, claws, cannons, etc.). Also, the six-player multiplayer mode is a sweet addition. After spending hours killing mythological monsters and soaring the clouds, fans of the original should be pleased with Pit’s portable outing.
Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
Price: $40
In celebration of the series 10-year anniversary, DDD brings back Sora and Roku, as the two protagonists embark on a journey to become Keyblade Masters, while fighting off the treacherous Evil Xehanort. Staples such as Disney-themed worlds and real-time, RPG gameplay are still intact. However, Square Enix introduces new features to the game: including the Drop system, which allows gamers to switch between the main characters. It’s by far the most captivating of the Kingdom Hearts handheld titles.
