Ori and The Blind Forest
Developer: Moon Studios
While Moon Studios hasn’t offered up any details, the mesmerizing trailer for Ori and the Blind Forest is more than enough to garner a spot on this list. Simplistic art style combined with beautiful cinematics and 2D side-scrolling gameplay puts it in the same category as other indie blockbusters like Limbo. According to director Thomas Mahler, the game was inspired by the lack of creativity coming from the big developers. After searching around NeoGAF and reading how many people wanted a Metroid-esque game, he felt obligated to create something close to it. Though there are no concrete details at the moment, it’s clear Microsoft is buying into the title, which should hit the Xbox One sometime next year.
