Bane The Mime & The Pittsburgh Steelers On The Dark Knight Rises Set?

Every Bat-fan has been spoiled the past week with updates on the new Dark Knight Rises film. First it was the onset shots of Batman and Batman duking it out, then the official first look of Anne Hathaway riding dirty on the Batpod as Catwoman. Now comes two new reports of communication issues between Tom Hardy and the cast, as well as the bad boys of the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers, joining the cast of the film.

First off, Hardy is complaining about how he has resorted to sign language and using signals to speak with the cast during filming, due to the fact that his Bane mask has prevented him from hearing and speaking to others:

“Any time you put something on your face, you’re going to adopt a personality and a physicality that has nothing to do with acting. It allows a performance to be free. The only downside is you can’t hear a fucking word anyone is saying. Batman [Christian Bale] can’t hear me and he can’t see me speaking so we sort of stand there looking at each other for a while. We’ve been doing hand signals! I put my thumbs up when I finish my lines or I wink. And he sort of wiggles his fingers out of shot and I go, ‘OK, now I’ve got to run up and kick you in the balls!'”

If that’s the case, he should be considered for an Oscar. On the other side, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger shared his excitement with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about the team shooting some B-roll for the film:

“I heard it’s going to be a neat thing at the stadium. I don’t think it will be a big part, it’s not like we’re chasing Batman down or anything. It’s something neat that in 10 years or 20 years we can tell our kids we were in a movie. Thomas does movies big and I’m sure it will be a big-time movie and something fun to be part of. From what I’ve heard, it’s going to be like a pre-game, warming-up type thing. I don’t know the whole concept. There’s a Gotham team, a football game. We’ll be wearing uniforms. It will be fun.”

Stay tuned for more updates, which we predict should hit the Net in the next two days.
