For the past five years, Audi’s been teasing us on the possibility of a production R8 e-Tron model. And while the company claimed to have given up on the electric sports car, citing poor range and high costs as the primary reasons, the automaker is back on track to produce the speedster. Only this time, Audi is promising better range and planning “limited” production.
The Audi R8 e-Tron will not be based on the previous prototypes, but based on the Lamborghini Huracan. Improvements to battery technology will give the R8 a range of 280 miles, though no performance figures have been revealed yet. Experts do believe the car will boast improved speed figures. We’ll have to wait to for that, along with its official launch date and pricing.
