It’s An Opportunity to Fix the Game’s Past Errors

Resident Evil 2 is rightly remembered as a masterpiece for many reasons. However, it’s far from perfect. For example, the game is infamous for its painfully bad voice acting. And this isn’t “so bad it’s funny” territory, like Star Fox 64–it’s truly awful, and any unintentional humor arising from the terrible deliveries clash glaringly with the game’s otherwise dark tone. A remake gives Capcom a chance to get quality actors whose resume will match that of the game.

Not to mention the fact that a remake could help the company upgrade the gameplay by integrating the mechanics of Resident Evil 4. If RE 2 is the fan favorite, then RE4 is the franchise’s tour de force. That title routinely appears on “Best Games of All Times” lists, and is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s best-selling survival horror game. A lot of its success comes from the shift of the fixed-camera perspective present in earlier Resident Evil games to a behind-the-shoulder approach that helped set the standard among third-person shooters. Combining the gameplay advancements of the fourth title with the creepy storyline of the second is gold.
