Capcom’s iconic arcade vertical shooter put players in the cockpit of the “Super Ace” aircraft, throwing them into the Pacific theater of WWII up against waves of enemy planes. While nowhere near groundbreaking for today’s standards, it’s easily adaptable controls and increasingly challenging gameplay provided tons of enjoyment for those seeking fast-paced action. The game’s appreciate for military airplanes such as a Lockheed P-38 Lightining, A6M Zeros, Ki-61s, and G8Ns also made it a shoe-in for the list. —IF
