The late ‘80 welcomed a series of vertical-scrolling shoot’em ups, but Commando was the one that played trailblazer to the movement. A pretty straightforward plot combined with simple controls led players to take control of the one-man army who was helicopter dropped behind enemy lines to capture fellow POWs. Capcom’s shooter basically laid the groundwork for all other successful games in its category such as Gun.Smoke, Ikari Warriors, and Rambo: First Blood II. Favorites of yours we presume? —IF
