Ford turned many heads at this year’s Detroit Auto Show after unveiling the 2013 Fusion at the year’s most popular auto expo. Now it plans on on debuting the stock car at next year’s Daytona 500 in February. The 2013 Sprint Cup Fusion’s design took a year to conceptualize, led by the Ford Design Center’s Garen Nicoghosian and aerodynamicist Bernie Marcus. Jaime Allison, Ford Racing director commented on company’s focus of pushing more Fusion vehicles and using the NASCAR staple as a great promotional tool for the brand:

“We wanted Fusion to be the car that helped return ‘stock car’ to NASCAR. I think fans, when they see the car, are just going to smile and cheer. It is going to reengage them with the sport and make the sport better because there is just something natural about seeing race cars that look like cars in their driveways.”

Pretty dope, huh. The 2013 Ford Fusion hits the race circuit next year and will undergo a heavy testing in the meantime.
