1. New Game Engine
While the game features some of the same gameplay aspects and features from Tekken 6, Tag Tournament 2 runs on a brand new engine. This allows for up to four characters to appear on-screen at the same time. In other words, expect to see things like Tag Assaults and manual tag-outs play a vital role in your battles. Though you might need to pick and choose your spots to be aggressive, the tables can be turned on you with one hit ultimately leading into an epic combo. As expected, health management will be crucial to a player’s success.
2. Ability to fight 1v1, 1v2, and 2v2
Players can engage in one-on-one battles like most of the traditional Tekken games, 2-on-2 characters ala the original Tekken Tag, or have the option to fight handicap: two against one. The latter mode will be well balanced, making the solo character much stronger than normal, where as the tag team will not be weaker than they would feel in a regular 2-on 2 tag battle. 1-on-1 battles are also available with familiar mechanics like Rage from Tekken 6 integrated, but with a much bigger character roster to choose from. Between all of the match-up possibilities and family rivalries, nearly every dream fight you could possibly imagine is right at your fingertips.
