2. Apple Acquires Beats By Dre
A is for Apple. B is for Beats. And C is for Crazy. Indeed, Apple’s $3.2 billion plan to acquire Beats By Dre can certainly be considered insane. Many critics remain skeptical of the deal, questioning the mismatched priorities of the two brands, and whether Dr. Dre and co-owner Jimmy Iovine will fit into Apple’s corporation. Perhaps these concerns can explain the delayed official announcement of the merger. However, the acquisition does hold potential benefits. The headphone giant doesn’t only offer audio merchandise, but also Beats Music: a subscription-based streaming system that’s already established and ready for Apple to reap the benefits. There is a fine line between crazy and ambitious.
