Twitter Nearby Feature

Seems like every social media network is pushing some sort of new feature. Just last week Instagram did so, introducing its Direct Messaging service. Now word on the web is Twitter has an experimental tool in the works dubbed ‘Nearby’, which shows users tweets sent from a nearby location. The WSJ reports it will show up as a news timeline for various subscribers for those who allow the mobile app to see their location. Though it’s uncertain whether the social platform will launch the app without notice, unlike Facebook, Twitter regularly tests features without enforcing them on users. Thank you Dick Costolo.

In addition, sources “close to the project” indicate Twitter is working on an “edit” feature that allows users to make changes to published tweets. Subscribers will have a limited time to make minor edits and be limited to one editing session per tweet. Sounds fair. What do you think? Sound like features you can live with?
