Much of today’s automakers are promoting eco-centric development, creating plug-in hybrid and battery-electric sports cars for the market. That’s great for the environment and all. But what’s really good with diesel sports cars? The Trident Iceni looks to keep the car category alive by introducing new body styles and a diesel powertrain consisting of a turbocharged 6.6-liter V8, which is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The powerhouse combination should result in 365hp and 700 pound-feet of torque. But the Iceni’s biggest selling point is speed, as the car is billed to go o to 60 in 3.7 seconds, while reaching a top speed of 190 mph. The diesel engine is also said to make the vehicle incredibly fuel efficient with the company estimating cruise range at around 2,000 miles.
Trident is taking orders at the moment on all three body styles with prices starting around $161,000: globally.
