Spy Camera Blocks Peeping Toms

Nobody likes a “Peeping Tom,” and this day and age has advanced for the comfort and safety of Tom. With computers, there’s no need for Tom to be hiding in a tree with binoculars around his neck. Now we have computers! Chinese camera specialist Gsou has this nifty USB webcam with all-new “anti-peep” technology. The device features a robotic arm that will automatically cover the camera lens of this one-eyed buddy as soon as video conferencing sessions complete.

It will put down his hands when it detects incoming Skype / MSN video calls. If you still fear nosy people butting in on your business, take control of the webcam’s arms yourself. There’s an override function that allows you to use the unit’s physical button to uncover the lens only when needed. The video quality seems surprisingly good for what it’s worth, as the webcam core has a 5-layer glass-coating lens. This webcam isn’t exactly made for HD video calls, but it deserves credit for creativity.
