Besides Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson confirming via Twitter that he’s officially onboard, the Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog reports that the RZA rapper-turned-actor and actor D.J. Cotrona are in negotiations for roles in the new G.I. Joe sequel.
Johnson tweeted, “It’s official: Call the Pentagon, get me my big ass gun – Rocks a JOE!” and will play African-American machine-gun slinger Roadblock, while the Wu-Tang Abbott will play a martial arts expert-as if we expected anything less-named the Blind Mast who once trained Snake Eyes. Cotrona will play Flint, a G.I. Joe soldier with a beret and a shotgun.
They will join the cast that already includes Channing Tatum, Ray Park, and Byung-hun Lee. It was also reported earlier this month that actor Elodie Yung is in talks for a role in the film.
The Jon Chu-directed G.I Joe sequel will begin production in Louisiana in August.
