Robert Downey Jr.’s career was revived after he signed on to play billionaire-genius-playboy-philanthropist-superhero Tony Stark a.k.a. “Iron Man.” The first Iron Man film was a smash to say the least, the second was a let down, and Iron Man 3 was a tragic disappointment. With Marvel gearing up to begin the marketing campaign for the endgame of Phase 2 of the Avengers Initiative, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, the studio is making preparations for Phase 3 and future projects and fans are wondering if Robert Downey Jr. will get one more chance to redeem the solo Iron Man franchise with a fourth installment. Recently, the Oscar nominated actor has confirmed that negotiations are in place for a “possible” Iron Man 4, but new developments from the man himself have indicated that something might be missing: Robert Downey Jr.

“Just between us, no — but I’m going to do other stuff with Marvel. I’m still going to be involved with Marvel and there’s going to be plenty of other fun stuff.”

Whether or not Downey Jr. is going to wear the suit in more solo outings, it’s safe to say that the idea of Iron Man 4 is better left where it is unless they can bring the flair that the first movie had that the second and third films sorely lacked. Also, it should be enough for Downey that he is suiting up for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes two more times and he isn’t getting any younger.
