London Police Blame Grand Theft Auto IV For Weekend Riots

So what do London officials do when their city is being rioted and they arrest over 160 people in a span of two days? Simple. Blame it on video games. According to The Guardian, violent riots began in the UK city after a local man who was reportedly armed with a replica firearm was gun down by police. From there “mobs of children” began looting and setting fires throughout the inner-city boroughs, as authorities resorted to playing the blame game with everyone’s favorite third-person shooter: Grand Theft Auto.

“These are bad people who did this…Kids out of control. When I was young it was all Pac-Man and board games. Now they’re playing Grand Theft Auto and want to live it for themselves,” said one London officer who remains nameless. But murdering an innocent civilian makes you a good cop, right? I think we’re all beyond the point of blaming society’s ills on video games.
