James Franco Rejected For Part In Last Twilight Film?

Aw, poor, poor James Franco. Looks like the theatrical renaissance actor wasn’t even considered for a role in the final Twilight film. Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon claimed the decision to not cast Franco wasn’t a slight to his acting abilities, but he wasn’t sure that this was something the 128 Hours star would have wanted: “For a moment I was like, what could James Franco play that doesn’t feel like ’Where’s Waldo?’… I think he thinks this somehow involves some big rejection of the idea.”

Honestly though, is anyone surprised at this decision? Could you picture Franco with fangs and a dazed melancholy sense of teen angst? All the male lead vampire parts had already been cast since New Moon went into production, which meant he would have been left with a bit part as a blood sucking country boy. Dude is talented, and he’s an Oscar nominee. Why downgrade to tween films?
