iPad 3 Price Cut Shorter Sizes

DigiTimes has been hinting at the possibility of a price markdown for the iPad 2 for quite some time, especially with Apple being rumored to announce the iPad within the next few weeks, plus the Amazon Kindle Fire tapping into its holiday sales profit. Now a research report issued from the site earlier today is reigniting the price cut fire, claiming the Cupertino Clan will indeed be adding models to its tablet line-up that will serve the “high-end segment” and “the mid-range,” all while continuing to offer the iPad 2 as reported by CNET. Here’s an excerpt of the story:

“With the existing iPad 2, the Apple tablet series may cover all price segments – from entry-level to high-end. Apple’s pricing strategy for its iPad series is crucial to the tablet market. It remains to be seen at what price level Apple will set its entry-level iPad. For Wi-Fi only models, US $299, US $349 or US $399 may all be possible.”

If that’s the case, expect Apple to obliterate the competition this year, as every tablet seeker on the market will indeed rush to pick up an iPad: last- or next-gen. We’ll take two please.
