While Marvel is currently winning the war in the box office, DC has been dominating the television set for years. But recently, banking on the success of the Avengers, Marvel has started its encroachment into the TV market with the premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, which scored massive ratings for ABC during its pilot episode. So it isn’t a shock the home of Batman looks to add another TV staple to its lineup of hits that include Arrow and the upcoming Flash, creating a series titled Gotham.

Gotham will air on Fox and is being created by Warner Brothers Television and Bruno Heller, creator of The Mentalist. It will be based on Gotham city’s top cop, Jim Gordon, when he was just a detective and how he dealt with Gotham’s menagerie of costumed baddies before the Caped Crusader existed. The series is said to be penciled in for a Fall 2014 debut.
