The oldest Japanese car manufacturer steps up its modern auto game by introducing one of the most bizarre compact, multi-purpose concept cars ever seen: the Daihatsu D-X. Set to ride onto the showroom floor of this year’s Tokyo Motor Show, the D-X comes powered by a turbocharged .66-liter 2-cylinder engine that features direct injection, while offering swappable body parts, which allow the vehicle to take on different forms such as a roadster, hatchback, or coupe. Daihatsu says the prototype “strikes a balance between the joy of driving and fuel-efficiency.” Check out the different D-X transformations below.
