Gameplay

Combat remains the same as it did in the original BioShock, meaning you can mix and match firearms with special powers known as vigors that allow the protagonist to perform certain capabilities. Those being the ability to send enemies soaring through the air, electrify, or control their minds. You’ll also come across hats and shirts that give you a defensive bonus, the bravery, which remains in the shield that lets you easily dispatch a couple of enemies.

Developer Irrational Games did a phenomenal job refining the control mechanics, especially the rail-based Skyline system, which allows players to jump across different self-powered tracks. Movement on the Skyline is smooth and the attacks are executed with finesse. Boss battles are entertaining and challenging as well. The game’s just well developed on all ends.

Handy Sidekick

Unless you’re playing a co-op game, secondary partners really don’t serve much purpose. They’re actually pretty useless and annoying at times. But 19-year-old Elizabeth breaks from the crowd and is arguably the best virtual sidekick ever. Not only does she come in handy when necessary, but serves as a vital addition to your mission from restoring health to picking locks. Even though she can’t help you physically in battles, Liz makes for the perfect lifesaver.
