Batman: Arkham Knight Will Feature Character Switching

A new trailer is out for Batman: Arkham Knight and that means more information.

Recently announced alongside this trailer is a game mechanic called “Dual Play” which means you can switch between Batman and his allies in “seamless combat transitions.” The other playable characters are Nightwing, Robin and Catwoman.

The trailer also featured some cool new tag-team abilities that feature one or more of the allies tossing bad guys between them like rag dolls. Good fun will be had for sure.

You might remember this “Dual Play” game mechanic from a very little game called Grand Theft Auto V. Although GTA V wasn’t as much of as beat-em-up sort of style of gameplay, it is curious that it is roughly the exact same mechanic.

Batman: Arkham Knight is the first in the series to be given an M rating which means we will probably see a more dark and scary side of Batman, one that we have been hoping to see since the films. This gives the developer some leeway in the combat as well as there will probably be more brutal beat-downs but Sefton Hill, game director of Arkham Knight, was quick to note that does not mean there will be “gratuitous blood or swearing,” it simply means there will be “a true end with no compromises, and it takes us to some dark places.”

Batman: Arkham Knight will be released on June 23rd after its 4th official delay and will release to the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
