Another Audi Concept On Our Wish List

Audi’s e-tron concept car is ridiculously stunning. A body frame constructed from Audi Space Frame technology (ASF), with add-ons assembled from fiber-reinforced plastic, Audi’s latest isn’t just eye candy. The e-tron comes bundled with one of the most advanced driving systems to grace an automobile—a drive system with thermal management that powers the vehicle battery and electronics.

We’re talking about a car that zips at an acceleration of 0 to 62 mph in 5.9 seconds, and 38 to 75 mph in 5.1 seconds, gracing a top speed of 200 km/h (124.27 mph). Speed junkies will find comfort in the lightweight driver and passenger seats, switching speeds and lanes, experiencing the vehicle’s exceptional traction and handling. Audi compares the driving experience to riding a go-kart…a very fast, agile and high-tech one.

Audi has laced the e-tron with a driver-friendly interior, equipped with a large built-in central display with integrated MMI functions, which are hemmed by two dial analogs. The touch sensitive surface on the steering wheel control all MMI activity. There’s also the ability to incorporate a smartphone into the center console, allowing drivers to utilize their Blackberry, iPhone or any other smartphone as a car phone, navigation system and video player. In addition, owners can use their smartphones as an operating unit for the many specific on-board systems available in the e-tron, such as adjusting the sound system and driving route from their house.

The e-tron’s lights brandish the ultra-efficient LED technology, which adapts to the climate driving conditions by utilizing a camera system that works with a synchronized computer to detect oncoming traffic, recognize lanes and measure visibility in foggy and stormy weather. And we can’t forget the two electric motors mounted on the rear axle bear that bear their own cooling system. That’s pretty sick! No word yet on the price or release date.
