1. Facebook Acquires Oculus For $2 Billion

With virtual reality becoming the next big thing in gaming, Facebook saw the opportunity to purchase the most promising startup in the sector and cashed in: to the tune of $2 billion. Now taking over the company’s VR efforts, the social network has pleaded and promised to continue Oculus’ vision by moving forward with the crowd-funded projected till its completion. Since late March, Facebook has made no major announcements on the state of the Oculus Rift and they were not present at E3. Despite the silence, this acquisition did seem to open the way for projects like Project Morpheus, Sony’s VR headset, to win over public support. Overall, the acquisition of Oculus by Facebook could prove to be beneficial to the gaming community as it opens the doors for many other VR tech companies that try their hand at improving the growing infrastructure.
