The Walking Dead
Price: $30
Platform(s): PS3 and Xbox 360
The point-and-click adaptation to the beloved comic book has garnered the near-exact universal acclaim of its television counterpart. How did developers Telltale Games accomplish this? By banking on one of the best and most compelling storylines ever created, which in turn enticed us to make heart-wrenching decisions involving loveable characters trapped in a zombie apocalypse. And that’s through five episodes. It didn’t win Game of the Year at the 2012 Spike VGAs for its massive cult following.
Hitman Absolution
Price: $40
Platform(s): PS3 and Xbox 360
Agent 47 finally gets his development comeuppance under the direction of IO Interactive, as his latest assignment targets amazing visuals, smart AI, great character voiceovers, and best of all, dope stealth/run-and-gun action. New gameplay modes such as Point Shooting lightens the learning curve by freezing time to accommodate accurate shooting, plus the game’s insane storyline is by far one of the more entertaining out there. For the sake of sounding cliché, Absolution hits its mark.
