New Modes

This year’s game welcomes a couple of new and exciting modes, the biggest being the 30 Years of WrestleMania campaign, which allows players to relive the most exciting matches in WWE history. This includes 45 legendary matches, along with classic wrestlers and WWE footage. Go through each Wrestlemania achieving different goals and winning matches, unlocking other matches in the process.

The Streak Mode pays tribute to the Undertaker and his 21-0 record. Only twist here is players can try to break the streak, but here’s a little warning in trying to do so, as the difficulty is much higher than anything you’ve experienced in a wrestling game. So good luck in trying to take down the dead man.

WWE Universe welcomes a complete overhaul with players able to create their own Universe such as customizing PPV events, logos, and the Rivalry Manager system, which keeps track of all your stats. Lastly, the the Create Mode has gotten tweaked to support 100 “Create-a-Superstar”.

Revamped Controls

WWE 2K14 has been completely revamped, which is something the WWE games needed for a minute. Some of the major changes you’ll notice are mostly in the navigation system, with characters moving faster than before. Dragging and running no longer looks robotic, but more human-like. Striking attacks are instant too. Adding to the game’s realism, 2K fixed the near-fall system to make mat counts more authentic.

Performing slams and special moves are executed much better this time, as the screen informs you when to apply the characters finishers, but requires quick action. The consequences of not taking advantage is having your opponent counter attack during matches. Once you get the hang of the controls, special moves and grapples become easy and make it more comforting to dominate the ring.
