Peter Parker in The Avengers

During The Avengers Twitter live chat held yesterday, director Joss Whedon answered a few questions concerning the Marvel blockbuster. Those absent from the virtual conference missed one fan asked Whedon about the rumored Spider-Man cameo in the film, which he responded by saying, “There is no Spider-Man cameo. But the Avengers do turn off the dark.”

It’s definitely worth nothing that Sony Pictures and Disney share the rights to The Amazing Spider-Man, so there’s always the possibility of characters from each franchise appearing in either films. And from a fanboys perspective, he still never clarified if Peter Parker would make involved in the Avengers picture. He just might swing through to snap a picture of the gang for the Daily Bugle.

Other notable rumors to surface over the past few days include Marvel secretly working on a Nick Fury/S.H.I.E.L.D. film, as well as shooting Captain America 2 sometime Q4 2012.
